fake caning, real delicious

may 117

As part of a half-formed goal to cook or bake something involving an actual recipe (not just opening two cans or pacakges of something and heating them up in a pan together, as per usual) at least once a week this summer, I made these cookies last night. I changed two things: I left out pecans in favor of even more chocolate chips, and I made the blobs really big. Next time, though, I'll keep the pecans and make the blobs smaller, or at least use two baking sheets instead of one. Although I do think there is something extra delicious about a square-ass cookie.

Oh, and the plates: The flower one was a gift from my mom, but the blue and green one under it I bought recently at Target for no real reason other than the caning pattern, which I love. Well, I've been calling it "caning" but apparently that's more commonly known as a torture method so I'm going to start calling it "rattan" instead to avoid the uncomfortableness of declaring my love of people being flagellated with sticks.
